Picture Posting Etiquette 

 

PLEASE practice posting pictures all in one post on the Discussion Board. Don't keep making top level posts as you scroll a post off the main board each time you make a new post!   Just keep posting under your original post as you try again.

First, your picture must be uploaded from your computer to the web to a storage place like Shutterfly (www.shutterfly.com) There are directions there for how to upload your pictures.

Once you have the pictures uploaded, get the picture you want to post on your screen in its large size (not the thumbnail) and right click on it. Then click on *properties* and a separate screen will appear. Find the line that says *address* and copy that line. It starts with http and ends with a long string of numbers.

Now you are ready to post! Wherever you want to post the picture, type the following:
<IMG SRC="paste the address that you copied in the last step"> There is a space between IMG and SRC and there are NO SPACES anywhere else in what you type!

For example, below is a picture of Sully, belonging to Ann of VA. If you right click anywhere on this page and *view source* it will show you the html for this page. Find the part that says "IMG SRC" and the address to see an example of how it was done.

Once you have uploaded your pictures, select a picture by clicking on it. When it comes up, click & hold on it until the pop-up menu comes up. Select "Open image in new window". The same image will come up again on a separate window, but it will have a different http address.

Copy THAT http address and paste it right into this where indicated: <IMG SRC="PASTE YOUR HTTP ADDRESS OF THE PIC HERE"> with no spaces immediately after the "=" sign.
